The current Inspector General in Police Pujith Senadhi Bandara Jayasundara, aka Pujith Jayasundara, is an IGP who came down for the goodness of the people and country. In simplest language, in a history of 150 years of the Police academy of Sri Lanka, an IGP like himself has never been before.
The presence of some IGPs throughout the history has never been even sensed by the people of this country, and some of them are known to people only by their affiliation to corruption or crimes.
But the current IGP has been in hot topic for conversation may times since his arrival.
Once in reducing road accidents he made orders to obtain Pirith at places road accidents highly take place. In another time, he announced an order to all policemen to meditate from 8.30 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. in the morning, daily before duty. Not stopping from it, he even arranged to issue a circular in regards to the order.
His order was so effective, that even the police officers were not allowed to perform any other mandatory duties in between the time period. There were reports claiming that the police officers who performed mandatory duties avoiding the order to meditate were even met with the IGP’s fierce rage.
This picture of Pujith Jayasudara, virally flowing through Social Media, was taken during the Esala Perahara held recently at Kandy. The picture emphasizes that the IGP is imitating a performance made by an Upcountry dancer walking in the perahara.
Do not be surprised if the IGP circulars a body to introduce dancing to the entire Police Department. Because he has been doing wondrous things as such since his commencement date of duty.
A considerable amount of crimes within the country has been reduced via the Meditation program by the IGP, and he soon may make arrangements to further eliminate and totally wipe out crimes through dancing.
