President Maithripala Sirisena has reportedly said former Minister Ravi Karunanayake that if he can get a letter of approval from Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe, giving a ministerial post is not an issue.
The President has also stated that if he fulfills this requirement, he can make arrangements to give him a ministerial post in just an hour and it won’t take even a day.
It was also reported that the President has made this statement when he personally met Ravi Karunanayake recently.
Even though many reports were published on this matter, Ravi Karunanayake did not receive that opportunity. Some said that Ravi Karunanayake would receive a ministerial post through the recent cabinet reshuffle, however, he lost that opportunity.
The President, speaking of this matter, has told Ravi Karunanayake that he has no problem or an objection regarding giving Ravi Karunanayake a ministerial post.
The Fort Magistrate has also decided that naming Ravi Karunanayake as a suspect of the bond scam at this point, based on the investigation launched by the CID over allegations of giving false information before the Central Bank Bond Commission, is not legal.
Ravi Karunanayake had also stated that he must be treated justly.
The UNP is also seriously discussing this matter within the party.
As reported, Ravi Karunanayake has been ignored due to the influence of a former President and several powerful ministers of the government.
