A spokesman from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party has said that there is a severe doubt raised among them whether President Maithreepala Sirisena has been politically framed by Mr. Basil Rajapakshe by promising to show the majority’s power for the appointment of Mr. Mahinda Rajapakshe as the new Prime Minister.
He made these comments in response to the query made by ‘Lanka News Web’ in knowing whether the Parliament’s majority has been received for them.
Further commenting on the situation he said the following.
Promise given to Maithree?
“Actually, neither of our party members, who were at the Government, was aware of the decision to appoint Mr. Mahinda as the new Prime Minister. This was discussed by those who are in group 15. It was S.B, Thilanga and the rest who continuously discussed with Basil about it. They were the ones who promised to present the President as the Presidential Candidate in the upcoming Presidential Election, if Mr. Mahinda can be appointed as the Prime Minister.
Now the President has served his job. Now Basil, S.B and the rest should fulfil the promise they have made. But even right now they are unable to show the majority’s power. So the President has to prorogue the Parliament unable of convening it.. This can be a very serious matter…
UNP should be responsible:
UNP should be responsible for dragging the President into such trouble. When the plot to assassinate the President was revealed, none of them made a look into it. They kidded themselves with it. They protected the IGP, they protected DIG Nalaka Silva.
When the President said at the Cabinet not to hand the Eastern Terminal of the Colombo Harbour over to India, the UNP leader stood against it and slandered the President by visiting India.
They took measures to rage India against our President by distorting a statement he made about the Indian ‘RAW’ Spy Service at the Cabinet; leaked these information to websites even before the Cabinet meeting was closed…
When the President brought a Cabinet paper in developing a railway, they opposed it.
Not only did they not listen to the request made by the President in dismissing the board of directors of two banks, the Prime Minister had informed the Chairman of BOC not to resign.
Given such circumstances, the President decided not to work with the UNP anymore. It is the UNP who pushed the President into this corner. Especially Minister Mangala’s web gang…
Basil’s need is obvious!
It was Basil who took the advantage of the internal conflicts occurred between the leaders of the Yahapalana Government. Basil acquired group 15 for his mission, the one with S.B, Thilanga and the rest ..
Actually, what Basil wants is to create a havoc in which they will be unable to continue the Parliament, in having a General Election. He wanted to drive the Parliament inactive by developing a Constitutional conflict ..
Basil has said to his close associates that this Government need not to be continued more than a month ..
Deals between Mangala – Basil!
Addition to these concerns, we have a big doubt about the political deals between former Minister Mangala and Mr. Basil Rajapakshe. It was only days ago when Mangala said at the Parliament that Basil is a brilliant individual any Government should possess. Both of them are political dealers. We have to take all of these into consideration.
It is obvious that these groups are attempting to put the President into political chaos. Nevertheless, we should be standing by the President’s side regardless of the conditions..”
