President Maithreepala Sirisena has reportedly contacted a former Minister senior member of Sri Lanka Freedom Party via telephone around 5.30 am today (29) morning, informing him to meet him immediately.
The relevant former Minister has arrived in the Presidential residence at Colombo, Paget Road at 6.00 am in the morning, and the President asked him what would be the Ministry he desires in possession.
However, the former Minister, who was at an utter disappointment, replied, “Sir, now we can neither stay at home, nor visit our villages. What you have done is utterly unpleasant. We’re the ones who have to answer to the public. What should we say to people? We were not aware about any of these. Neither did you say anything to us. Sir, we won’t be taking ministries from Mahinda. We’ll withdraw.”
The President, who shook from his response, has said “We? Who’re we? How many of you are?” The former Minister responded that there are 10 more with him, adding, “What you have done not only finished you, so were we.”
“We have no intention of joining the UNP. Neither will we be voting for Ranil, nor Mahinda. We’ll be acting as an independent group in the Parliament”, said by the former Minister before the President giving goodbye, further adding, “This isn’t a conspiracy sir. When we’re leaving we’ll come to see you with a hand of beetles.”
