Venerable Dambara Amila Thero and Professor Sarath Wijesuriya have been summoned to Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID).
Yesterday (30), the Three-Member Special High Court had recognized a voucher of 95,000 Rupees given to Dambara Amila Thero as monthly fuel allowance under the marketing promotion of Litro Gas by the Yahapalana Government.
It is said that evidences to prove that civil activist Professor Sarath Wijesuriya has retrieved money from the National Lotteries Board (NLB) claimed for his book launching have also been revealed.
Meanwhile, investigations on several individuals, including Gamini Viyangoda from the Purawesi Balaya and his nephew, on the grounds of retrieving an amount of 2.7 Million Rupees from a state body are being carried out by the Bribery Commission.
Transactions involving Venerable Dambara Amila Thero were revealed when the prosecutions against Head of Presidential Staff Gamini Senerath, who had allegedly misused 500 Million Rupees from the above company, were taken into examination. When the case was taken into cross-examination, Muditha Harshajith Thamanagama, who worked as the Financial Controller of Litro Gas Company, had presented the vouchers claiming the amount of 95,00 Rupees per each paid to Dambara Amila Thero on last July before the court.
Accordingly, the examination has revealed that Venerable Dambara Amila Thero was paid 95,000 Rupees per instalment, summing up 39 total instalments, as the fuel allowance.
It is said that the vouchers are being taken into examination by forensics. Apparently, Dambara Amila Thero and Professor Sarath Wijesuriya have reportedly been summoned to the FCID on interrogating regarding the above allegations.
