Conversations held between President Maithreepala Sirisena and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya have reportedly been successful over the past period. The Speaker has had to intervene in the conversations amid the President's continuous rejection before Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe.
However, the old friendship between the Speaker and the President has reportedly been strengthened over the conversations.
The President has expressed his gratitude to Mr. Jayasuriya for his gesture and good manner.
Both have come to understanding that the political crisis spawned over the last period can no longer be tolerated especially after Mr. Mahinda Rajapakshe was proven to be incapable of gaining the Parliament's majority, and needs to be solved immediately.
Apparently, the need to establish a Government led by the United National Party has resurfaced in the conversations through Mr. Karu Jayasuriya's influence and the President has reportedly made no objections to the suggestion.
In learning the truth to the claims 'Lanka News Web' has made a query from Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, for which we received a response that same as how Parliament was secured amid the political crisis, he will be taking measures to secure the President as well.
Mr. Jayasuriya has emphasized that the country was coursed upon its destination before the world as a democratic country and will not be let down per will of personal political agendas.
