Prosecution against the brutal killings of two businessmen from Boossa, Rathgama area allegedly by the Special Investigations Unit of the Southern Province was called before the Galle Magistrate today (27). Although the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has requested to send the bone fragments discovered at where the two bodies were found for DNA test, the Galle Magistrate has refused their request.
The Galle Magistrate depicting his objection on the matter has stated that first the suspects shall be brought before the court and the bone fragments shall be marked before the suspects for submission for DNA test.
Previously when Police Inspector Kapila Nishantha of the Special Investigations Unit of the Southern Province was arrested in connection to the crime and brought before the Magistrate, the Magistrate had made rather an unorthodox comment before the CID officers saying, "Are you happy now?"
The unorthodox sympathy of the Magistrate before Inspector Kapila Nishantha was later found out to be personal, for the suspect being husband of an attorney working at the Galle Magistrate Court.
Nevertheless, sources informed that the CID will be making a complaint against the Galle Magistrate to the Judicial Service Commission.
