SLT CEO resigns!

CEO of Sri Lanka Telecom Dileepa Wijesundara resigned yesterday (12) afternoon, say SLT sources. His resignation follows an exchange of words he had with its chairman Kumarasiri Sirisena over the big drop in the SLT’s profits this year.

He has told the media that he would take responsibility for the slump in profit, which he blamed on the chairman and the director board not approving his new management methods and actions. He said he could no longer serve as the CEO in view of their full dependence on outdated business methods.

A dual citizen also holding Canadian citizenship, Dileepa was chairman of the Ports Authority during the period Mangala Samaraweera was the ports and aviation minister. As the first telecommunication minister of the Yahapaalana government, Samaraweera appointed him as the CEO of SLT.
