Shiranthi too, to govt!
An alarmed Shiranthi Rajapaksa is sending message after message to president Maithripala Sirisena after he said yesterday that he would appoint a commission to investigate SriLankan and Mihin Lanka airlines, according to reports reaching Lanka News Web.
During the Rajapaksa regime, her brother Nishantha Wickremasinghe was the chairman of SriLankan. Media has reported the massive fraud and irregularities that had taken place during his tenure. Shiranthi is afraid that everything will come to light if a commission is appointed.
She has sent the messages to the president, saying that she would be willing to reconcile him with the Rajapaksas on any condition. When Wickremasinghe was the chairman, it was Shiranthi who actually ran SriLankan. It was to her wants that the questionable dealings had taken place. As far as we know, Wickremasinghe might have weaknesses, but he is not a thief. Those who should be held responsible are his sister Shiranthi and son Dilshan.
Political analysts say the president has chosen an ideal trump card this time to tame the Rajapaksa family.
