Sports Minister Harin Fernando yesterday (31) said he was told by the International Cricket Council (ICC) Anti-Corruption Chief that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is world’s most corrupt cricket institution.
The minister said this while addressing a special media briefing held yesterday after meeting with ICC Anti-corruption Chief Alex Marshall on 27th December.
The minister added that he was told by ICC officials that SLC is corrupt from top to bottom.
The ICC is ready to set up an ICC anti-corruption unit in Sri Lanka and they will be able to reveal all information within a month or two, the minister noted.
He added that a huge issue may arise when conducting investigations against corrupt officials since there is no anti-corruption law in Sri Lanka. Therefore, necessary laws will be introduced within two months, he noted.
