A special parliamentary meeting is held today (16) to announce the resignation of former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
It is stated that strict security measures have been deployed around the Parliament for that purpose.
Accordingly, both the main entrances to the Parliament have been temporarily closed and the police are asking the public to use alternative routes.
