President takes over four ministries via extraordinary gazette

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to take over four ministries, following the constitutional protocol 44(3) by which the Prime Minister should be consulted prior to such action, and thereby collecting the opinion of Premier Dinesh Gunawardena.

Accordingly, the following ministries have been taken over by the President.

Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilisation and National Policy
Ministry of Technology
Ministry of Women and Child Affairs and Social Empowerment
Ministry of Investment Promotion

In addition, the Ministry of Defence is also under the scope of the President in compliance with the Constitution.
