August 04, Colombo (LNW): Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, the Department of Meteorology said.
Cloudy skies will prevail over these areas.
Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa province and in Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
Several spells of showers will occur in North-central province.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in Uva and Eastern provinces and in Mullaitivu district after 2.00 p.m.
Strong winds of about (40-50) kmph can be expected at times over North-central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-western provinces and Trincomalee district.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Condition of Rain: Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Colombo, Galle, Hambantota and Batticaloa.
Winds: Winds will be south-westerly. Wind speed will be (30-40) kmph.
Wind speed can increase up to (60-70) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
Wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo and from Batticaloa to Mullaitivu via Trincomalee.
State of Sea: The sea areas off the coasts extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be rough or very rough at times.
Naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture into these sea areas, until further notice.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo and from Batticaloa to Mullaitivu via Trincomalee will be rough at times.
The wave height may increase about (2.0-2.5) meters in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
