August 04, Colombo (LNW): The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has directed former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son, Yoshitha Rajapaksa, and former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda to appear before the Colombo High Court after formal notices are served on them.
The order was issued today (04) by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama when a complaint filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) was taken up for consideration.
Both Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Karannagoda were present in court during the proceedings. After hearing submissions presented by legal representatives of the Bribery Commission, the Magistrate ruled that the case should proceed before the High Court and instructed that notices be issued to the two respondents.
