Lanka Sathosa Limited has announced price reductions on six essential food items across its island-wide network of outlets, effective from today (26).
According to a statement issued by Lanka Sathosa Marketing Manager Ishan Godamanne, the state-owned supermarket chain introduced the reductions as part of its efforts to provide greater relief to consumers and support the national poverty alleviation programme.
Under the revised prices, a kilogramme of big onions has been reduced by Rs. 10 to Rs. 309, while bulk white sugar has been reduced by Rs. 4 to Rs. 245 per kilogramme.
The price of red lentils has been cut by Rs. 2 to Rs. 242 per kilogramme, while wheat flour has been reduced by Rs. 5 to Rs. 174 per kilogramme.
Meanwhile, red raw rice will be sold at Rs. 173 per kilogramme following a Re. 1 reduction, while the price of white raw rice has been reduced by Rs. 5 to Rs. 174 per kilogramme.
The revised prices will be available to consumers at all Lanka Sathosa outlets across the country from today (26).
