The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) was honoured with the “Distinguished Friend of Singapore Red Cross” award at the Singapore Red Cross Awards Ceremony held recently on September 22 at the Novotel Hotel in Singapore.
The prestigious award was presented by Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore and Patron of the Singapore Red Cross, to Jagath Abeysinghe, Senior Vice President of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society.
Speaking on the occasion, Abeysinghe said the recognition reflects the longstanding partnership, mutual support and humanitarian cooperation between the Sri Lanka Red Cross and Singapore Red Cross. He added that the award also acknowledges their shared commitment to serving vulnerable communities and advancing humanitarian action.
SLRCS Governing Board members Dr. Amila Kankanamge and Kumari Kothalawala also attended the ceremony.
