Gotabaya Rajapaksa Seeks Court Approval to Travel to Singapore for Medical Treatment

Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has filed a motion before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court seeking the removal of a foreign travel ban imposed on him.

Through the application, Rajapaksa has requested permission to travel to Singapore for follow-up medical treatment following heart surgery.

The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court imposed the overseas travel restriction approximately four months ago in connection with legal proceedings concerning allegations that authorities had failed to prevent the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks in 2019.
