Sri Lanka’s Headline Inflation Rises to 8.3% in October

Sri Lanka’s year-on-year headline inflation, measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI), edged up to 8.3% in October 2026 from 8.0% in September, the Department of Census and Statistics has reported.

Food inflation inched higher to 8.8% from 8.7% a month earlier, pointing to slightly stronger price pressures in the food category. Non-food inflation climbed more noticeably, rising to 8.0% in October from 7.7% in September.

Overall, both food and non-food categories recorded higher rates during the month, pushing up headline inflation.
