ABU Delegates to Discover Sri Lanka’s Cultural Heritage and Tourist Attractions

November 03, Colombo (LNW): International media representatives attending the 63rd General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) are set to embark on a tour of Sri Lanka’s prominent tourist destinations and historical landmarks, offering them an opportunity to experience the island’s cultural diversity and natural attractions.

The visiting delegation comprises representatives from 225 electronic media organisations across 66 member countries, making the gathering a significant international platform for broadcasting professionals and media industry leaders.

The sightseeing programme is expected to showcase Sri Lanka’s varied tourism offerings, ranging from its historic sites and cultural landmarks to its scenic landscapes. It also provides an opportunity to strengthen the country’s international profile and generate greater interest among overseas visitors.

Meanwhile, the 15th ABU TV Song Festival was held last night at Stein Studios in Ratmalana, bringing together celebrated musical performers from across the Asia-Pacific region.

The event offered an entertaining introduction to the region’s diverse musical traditions while highlighting Sri Lanka’s own artistic talent and cultural identity. Through music and live performances, international participants were given an opportunity to experience the island’s creative heritage.

The combination of cultural activities, entertainment and tourism experiences is expected to add another dimension to the ABU gathering, while giving international delegates a broader appreciation of Sri Lanka beyond its role as the host country.
