November 05, Colombo (LNW): Motorists purchasing 95 Octane petrol from Lanka IOC and Sinopec will have to pay more following a fresh price revision that has added Rs. 20 to the cost of every litre, taking the new retail price to Rs. 515 with effect from last night (4).
The latest adjustment has pushed the price of 95 Octane petrol at both companies from Rs. 495 to Rs. 515, marking another increase for consumers already facing higher fuel expenses.
Significantly, this is the second Rs. 20 hike announced by the two fuel retailers within a period of just ten days. Their previous revision, introduced on 25 October, saw the price of a litre of 95 Octane petrol rise from Rs. 475 to Rs. 495.
The latest move comes after the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) implemented its own price adjustment on 1 November, increasing the cost of the same fuel grade by Rs. 15 to Rs. 490 per litre.
With the latest changes now in effect, a noticeable price difference has emerged between the three fuel providers. Customers filling up with 95 Octane petrol at Lanka IOC and Sinopec will pay Rs. 25 more per litre than motorists purchasing the same grade from CPC.
