Coconut Development Authority Chief ordered to resign with immediate effect!

Chairman of the Coconut Development Authority Keerthi Sri Weerasinghe has been ordered to resign from his post with immediate effect. The notice has been given by Secretary to the State Ministry of Coconut, Fishtail Palm, Palmyra and Rubber Product Promotion and Allies Industrial Production and Export Diversification Tissa Hewawithana, based on a special order by the Presidential Secretariat.

The notice has been made on February 05 and the Ministerial Secretary commented that he is expecting the letter of resignation by the Authority Chairman.

The persons involved in the assault at the Faculty of Medicine, Ragama had used a vehicle belonging to the Coconut Development Authority, and the Presidential Secretariat, therefore, has ordered the dismissal of the Authority Chairman stating that he should be held accountable for the event as well.

A probe is being conducted at the Ministry level regarding the use of this vehicle as well, the Secretary added.
