Leader of the United National Party (UNP) Ranil Wickremesinghe has met with United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung to engage in a conversation regarding the country’s current situation.
The meeting has been confirmed by the US Ambassador herself in a tweet, saying that the two countries can work together to find sustainable solutions to today’s ‘urgent economic challenges’.
Chung also stated that a vibrant political opposition is vital in any healthy democracy.
“A vibrant political opposition is vital in any healthy democracy. Thank Ranil Wickremesinghe for meeting with me today to discuss ways the US and Sri Lanka can work together to find sustainable solutions to today’s urgent economic challenges,” she wrote.
