May 05, Colombo (LNW): Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces and in Ampara, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa districts after 1.00 p.m., with Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm being likely to occur at some places, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather forecast today (05).
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places elsewhere of the island during the afternoon or night.
Showers may occur in the Western province and in Mannar, Puttalam, Galle and Matara in the morning too.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central and Uva provinces and in Ampara and Polonnaruwa districts during the morning.

| The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be fairly rough at times. The other sea areas around the island can be slight to moderate. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. |
