Omalpe Sobhitha Thera reveals a condition from Mahinda if to resign

Date:

Omalpe Sobhitha Thera says that Mahinda Rajapaksa has stated that he will not resign from the post of Prime Minister as the country may become anarchic after his resignation.

“The prime minister says that he will resign, and he is ready for that. But when it takes time to fill the gap left by that resignation, the country will lose control. How long does it take to fill this space? We said that the administration of the country could be run under the executive powers of the President. However, the Prime Minister continued to say that the country could not be run under the powers of the President. The country will be destabilized when the Prime Minister leaves the Cabinet. If the country becomes unstable, the current situation will become a nightmare and more crises will arise. So I can resign without a doubt, but they have to agree with all other parties in Parliament and decide what to do next. That is to come to a unanimous decision to appoint a Prime Minister. He said he was ready to step down once they have reached a consensus on who the prime minister would be and how he would be appointed. Now we are discussing this again with the Mahanayake Theras. We hope to form a coalition of party leaders and move forward soon with the responsibility of the party leaders in this regard. ”

Ven. Omalpe Sobhitha Thera was speaking to the media after meeting Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (26) afternoon to discuss the letter issued by the Chief Incumbents.
