SLPP loses 2022 Budget at Ratnapura Pradeshiya Sabha

The budget for 2022 tabled in the Ratnapura Pradeshiya Sabha ruled by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has been defeated at a majority of 18 votes in opposition.

Only 17 votes were cast in favour.

12 SLPP members including the Ratnapura Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and 05 Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) members voted in favour of the 2022 budget and 12 SLPP members, 05 SLFP members and one Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) member voted in opposition.

It was noteworthy that the Vice Chairman of the Ratnapura Pradeshiya Sabha also voted in opposition to the 2022 budget.
