In a lengthy letter addressed to CoPE Chairman Charitha Herath, Kumarasinghe denied the allegation levelled by Monetary Board member Dr. Rani Jayamaha that his consent to approve the resolution on releasing dollar deposits belonging to the CBSL to prevent the Sri Lankan Rupee from being depreciated was vital, adding that the action simply could have been prevented had Jayamaha herself opposed it.

Dr. Jayamaha, however, did not oppose the resolution, he added.
