Court bars SLFP’s decision to dismiss Nimal Siripala De Silva

Date:

A court order has been issued barring the dismissal of Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva from his titles in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).

Accordingly, the Colombo District Court ruled that Silva’s dismissal from the Party be suspended till June 20.

Silva’s titles in the SLFP were removed as he had decided to accept a ministry violating the Party’s protocol.

However, the Minister lodged a petition stating that neither the Party Chairman, nor the Secretary General nor the Central Committee has the power to remove him from his titles in compliance with the Party Constitution.
