Two sluice gates opened at the upper Kothmale Reservoir

Date:

Reservoir engineers took steps today (03) to keep two sluice gates of Upper Kotmala Reservoir open in Talawakele due to the heavy rain falling in the Central Highlands.

They state that due to the heavy rain that has been falling in the catchment areas of the Upper Kothmala reservoir for the past few days, two out of the five sluice gates of the reservoir have been opened in this way.

The assistant director of the Nuwara Eliya District Disaster Management Unit Ranjith Alahakon has requested the people to be careful when using the water of the Kotmala Oya in the area below the upper Kotmala Reservoir due to the opening of the sluice gates of the reservoir.
