Col HC issues warrant to arrest Vass Gunawardena’s wife

The Colombo High Court has issued a warrant to arrest Shyamali Perera Gunawardena, wife of former Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Vass Gunawardena, and former Superintendent of Police Indika Pushpakumara, in connection with the abduction and torturing of a student allegedly committed in 2009.

The warrant was issued as the case on the abduction and torturing of Nipuna Ramanayake, a student of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), was called in two days ago (16).

The warrant was issued for their arrest as the two defendants, who were on bail, failed to appear in Court despite being summoned.
