A few showers expected across provinces: Mainly dry weather to prevail elsewhere (July 23)

July 23, Colombo (LNW): A few showers will occur in coastal areas of the Western and North-western provinces and Galle district during the morning.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Batticaloa, Ampara and Monaragala districts after 2.00 p.m.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the other areas of the island.

Fairly strong winds about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over Northern, North-central provinces and in Hambantota and Puttalam districts.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Marine Weather:

Condition of Rain: A few showers may occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Negombo to Galle via Colombo.

Winds: Winds will be south-westerly. Wind speed will be (30-40) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kalpitiya to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from, Hambantota to Pottuvil.

State of Sea: The sea areas off the coasts extending from Kalpitiya to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil will be fairly rough at times.
