July 26, Colombo (LNW): The Presidential Media Division (PMD) has firmly dismissed media reports alleging that unauthorised individuals were housed at Presidential Residences, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on July 25, the PMD refuted reports suggesting that 3,089 people had been accommodated at Presidential Residences across the country during 2025, insisting that the information published by certain media organisations was inaccurate.

According to the statement, the individuals referred to in the reports were officers attached to the security services, the President’s Media Division and other government institutions who were provided with temporary accommodation to support official duties and operational requirements.

The PMD clarified that these personnel were housed only in separate buildings located within the wider premises of the Presidential Residences and not inside the residences occupied for official presidential use. It stressed that no outsiders or unauthorised individuals had been accommodated within any Presidential Residence at any time.

Reiterating its position, the Presidential Media Division urged the public to rely on verified information regarding matters relating to state institutions and maintained that the reports in question had misrepresented the actual use of the accommodation facilities available within the presidential premises.
