August 10, Colombo (LNW): The Court of Appeal today considered several intervening petitions filed in relation to a legal challenge brought by former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director Suresh Sallay over his arrest and detention in connection with investigations into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.
Counsel appearing for the intervening petitioners presented their submissions before the Court during today’s proceedings.
The case concerns Sallay’s petition challenging the legality of his arrest and continued detention as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks continue.
After hearing submissions from the lawyers representing the intervening parties, the Court of Appeal decided to postpone further consideration of the matter.
The case has been scheduled to be taken up again on August 25, when the Court is expected to continue hearing the relevant submissions and consider the issues raised by the parties.
