
August 18, Colombo (LNW): Former Ceylon Fisheries Corporation Chairman Maheel Senaratne has been taken into custody by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over alleged irregularities in the procurement process.
Senaratne, who served as Chairman of the corporation between 2010 and 2012, is being investigated over claims that established procurement procedures were not properly followed when fish sales centres were set up and maintained at locations across the country.
The allegations relate to the procurement and related arrangements associated with the islandwide network of fish sales centres. CIABOC is conducting further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the alleged procedural violations and the responsibilities of those involved.
