August 31, Colombo (LNW): Former minister Ravi Karunanayake has been released on bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court following his arrest by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in connection with an alleged corruption investigation.
The court made the decision after hearing submissions from CIABOC investigators as well as legal representatives appearing for Karunanayake.
The former minister had been taken into custody by the anti-corruption authorities earlier in connection with the ongoing inquiry. The bail order allows him to remain at liberty while the investigation continues.
