Verdict on Pujith Jayasundara over Easter Sunday Massacre on Feb. 18

The hearing of the case filed against former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara on the allegation of failing to avert the Easter Sunday Massacre despite receiving intelligence was concluded today (20).

Accordingly, the verdict of the case will be declared on the 18th of next month, announcing whether the former IGP will be acquitted from the charges or the defendant’s statement will be call in, said the Trial At Bar of the Colombo High Court.

This was when the case was taken up before the Bench comprising Justices Namal Balalle, Aditya Patabendige and Mohammed Irshadeen today.

Senior Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris appearing for the complainant informed the Court that the hearing of evidence will be concluded.
