Sri Lanka Raises Rs.120 Billion Through Three Government Bond Issues

September 13, Colombo (LNW): Sri Lanka has raised a combined Rs.120 billion through the sale of three Treasury bonds maturing in 2030, 2034 and 2037, according to figures released by the Public Debt Management Office.

Investor demand was sufficient for the authorities to fully allocate each of the three securities on offer.

The 01 August 2030 Treasury bond, identified by ISIN LKB00530H016, attracted Rs.70 billion in subscriptions and the entire amount offered was sold at an average yield of 10.83%.

The Government also raised Rs.50 billion through the 15 October 2034 bond (LKB00934J156), with the full amount offered being allocated at an average yield of 11.96%.

A further Rs.30 billion was raised through the 01 July 2037 bond (LKB01237G019), which was sold in full at an average yield of 12.08%.

The results indicate continued investor participation across different maturity periods, with yields rising for the longer-dated securities.

All three Treasury bonds will remain available on tap, allowing additional amounts to be issued following the initial sale, subject to the applicable arrangements.

The latest borrowing forms part of the Government’s ongoing debt-management operations as it works to secure domestic financing while managing the maturity profile and cost of public borrowing.
