September 14, Colombo (LNW): Dr Duminda Silva has returned to Sri Lanka following a landmark achievement on the international modelling stage, becoming the first Sri Lankan model to secure a world championship title.
Silva claimed the Elite crown at the Master of the World 2026 competition, held in Singapore from 6 to 10 September, where representatives from 22 countries competed for the prestigious title.
His success extended beyond the overall victory, with Silva also taking four additional honours: Best Personality, Best Role Model, Best Swimsuit and Most Popular Contestant.
The achievement adds another distinction to an already diverse career. Silva is a former Mr Sri Lanka title-holder and holds a doctorate, while also practising as an attorney-at-law.
He arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport at approximately 9.35pm yesterday aboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL-309 from Singapore.
A sizeable gathering of friends, supporters and well-wishers was present at the airport to welcome him home and celebrate what has been described as a significant milestone for Sri Lankan modelling.
