September 20, Colombo (LNW): Sri Lanka could see another adjustment to domestic fuel prices before the end of September, with the Government assessing the impact of the recent rise in international petroleum prices.
Energy Minister Anura Karunathilaka said the possibility of a price revision was being considered during a programme held in Galle today (20).
He said the Government was also examining whether consumers would be able to absorb any additional increase, noting that fuel prices in the domestic market were already comparatively high.
The Minister said international market prices would form a key part of the Government’s assessment when the monthly fuel price review is carried out at the end of September.
A final decision on any revision will therefore depend on global price movements as well as the Government’s assessment of the impact on the public.
