September 22, Colombo (LNW): Security has been stepped up around the Aluthkade Courts Complex ahead of the delivery of the verdict in a major case linked to the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks.
A heightened police presence has been arranged at and around the court premises, with several specialised teams reportedly deployed to maintain security and manage access to the area as proceedings take place today (22).
The case involves 24 accused persons who are facing more than 23,270 charges. The allegations include conspiracy and providing assistance or support in connection with the Easter Sunday attacks carried out in 2019.
Authorities have introduced the additional security arrangements as the court prepares to deliver its long-awaited determination in the case, which has attracted considerable public attention because of the scale of the charges and the seriousness of the allegations.
