September 24, Colombo (LNW): Sri Lanka Customs has already surpassed its revenue collection target for September, achieving the milestone more than a week before the month comes to a close.
The department said it had collected Rs. 199.348 billion by Tuesday (22), exceeding the September target of Rs. 195.596 billion by approximately Rs. 3.75 billion.
Customs has been assigned an annual revenue target of Rs. 2.206995 trillion for this year. By Tuesday, cumulative collections had reached Rs. 2.058033 trillion, putting the department within reach of its full-year goal with several months still remaining.
The latest figures indicate continued strong revenue collection by Customs, with September’s target already being met despite the month not yet having concluded.
The department also recorded a strong performance last year. In 2025, Sri Lanka Customs surpassed its annual revenue target and ended the year with total collections of Rs. 2.557535 trillion.
The latest achievement is expected to add to the Government’s revenue position as authorities continue efforts to strengthen tax and customs administration and improve public-sector revenue collection.
