Godahewa and two others acquitted over corruption case

Three persons including MP Nalaka Godahewa have been acquitted by the Colombo High Court over an alleged misappropriation of public funds.

Dr. Godahewa was acquitted from the case filed against him accusing him of misappropriating public funds amounting to Rs. 05 million belonging to the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) during his tenure as the Commission Chief.

The other two, former SEC Deputy Director General Dhammika Perera and Sports Director of ‘Tharunyayata Hetak‘ movement Ronnie Ibrahim.

The acquittal was pronounced as the case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja, on the grounds that the evidence produced for the case cannot be substantiated.
