October 01, Colombo (LNW): The National Police Commission has declined to endorse a recommendation by Inspector General of Police (IGP) to transfer six senior police officers, including Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) Ranmal Kodithuwakku, who heads the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB).

The decision was taken by the Commission at its meeting today (01), following consideration of the proposed transfers put forward by the IGP.

The transfer recommendation is understood to have been linked to allegations of dereliction of duty arising from the seizure of 472 kilograms of ‘Ice’ — crystal methamphetamine — discovered inside two containers at the Colombo Port.

SDIG Kodithuwakku, who is responsible for the Police Narcotics Bureau, was among the six officers whose transfers had been proposed.
