Shiranthi Rajapaksa to Be Taken to National Eye Hospital for Specialist Consultation Tomorrow

The Department of Prisons has decided not to transfer former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, who is currently in remand custody, to a private hospital in Colombo today (08).

Prisons Media Spokesman and Commissioner of Prisons Senaka Palletanna said Rajapaksa was examined by a specialist doctor at the Prison Hospital today.

Following the medical examination, the specialist recommended that she be taken to the National Eye Hospital in Colombo tomorrow (09) for further specialist treatment and consultation.

Shiranthi Rajapaksa, the wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on Wednesday (07).
