Afternoon showery trend continues: Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm expected (Oct 11)

October 11, Colombo (LNW): Showers or thundershowers will occur in the most part of the island after 1.00 p.m., the Department of Meteorology said.

Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and North-Western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Anuradhapura and Mannar districts.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the early hours of the morning.

Marine Weather:

A low-pressure area is likely to form over Southeast Bay of Bengal around 13th October.

The naval and fishing communities, are requested to be attentive to the future forecasts and bulletins issued by the Department of Meteorology in this regard.

Condition of Rain: Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas around the island.

Winds: Winds will be North-easterly or variable. Wind speed will be (20-30) kmph.

State of Sea: Sea areas around the island will be slight.

Temporarily strong gusty winds (60-70 kmph) and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
