Motorcycle Registration Services Expand to Five Districts

October 19, Colombo (LNW): Motorcycle owners in five districts can now access registration services closer to home following the introduction of a new facility at regional offices of the Department of Motor Traffic.

The service became operational this morning at the department’s Gampaha District Regional Office, with Jaffna, Hambantota, Anuradhapura and Kurunegala also included in the initiative. The move is aimed at making the registration process more accessible to the public while improving the efficiency of service delivery.

An official launch ceremony at the Gampaha office is scheduled to take place between 9.00 am and 9.30 am under the patronage of the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic.

By extending registration facilities beyond the department’s central office, the initiative is expected to ease the burden on motorcycle owners who would otherwise have to travel longer distances to complete the necessary formalities. It could also help reduce congestion at the main office and save applicants valuable time.

The introduction of the service across the five districts marks a step towards decentralising public services and providing motorists with a more convenient way to fulfil their registration requirements.
