The Ministry of Buddhasasana has informed the Kotte Sri Kalyani Samagri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha that Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera will not be produced before court today (October 23), as the court has stated that his presence is unnecessary.
The clarification follows earlier reports that the monk would be brought before court in his robes under revised prison guidelines.
Professor Ven. Kotapitiye Rahula Thera, Anunayake of the Kotte Sri Kalyani Samagri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha, confirmed that the Ministry had conveyed the decision to Most Ven. Dr. Ittapana Dhammalankara Mahanayake Thera.
Deputy Minister of Buddhasasana Gamagedara Dissanayake said the Mahanayake Thera was informed after the court communicated that there was no need to produce Ven. Gnanasara Thera before it today.
