November 02, Colombo (LNW): Litro Gas Lanka has issued a stern warning to its authorised dealers, cautioning that those engaging in unfair trading practices could lose their dealerships as the company moves to protect consumers and ensure fair access to domestic gas supplies.
The state-run company has made it clear that practices such as stockpiling gas cylinders, deliberately restricting sales, charging prices above the approved maximum retail price (MRP) and collecting unauthorised additional payments will not be tolerated.
In a special notice, Litro Gas Lanka said all its distributors and dealers had been instructed to comply strictly with the company’s sales regulations and ensure that customers were not subjected to unnecessary difficulties when purchasing gas.
The company stressed that any dealer found violating these requirements would face disciplinary measures, with the possibility of having their authorisation revoked depending on the nature and severity of the offence.
The warning comes as the company seeks to prevent irregularities in the distribution network and discourage practices that could place an additional financial burden on households.
Litro Gas Lanka also underlined the responsibility of its dealers to maintain transparent sales practices and make gas available to consumers at officially approved prices.
The company said the measures were intended to safeguard the interests of the public, maintain confidence in the distribution system and ensure that customers could obtain domestic gas supplies without facing artificial shortages or inflated charges.
Consumers are therefore being encouraged to remain alert to overpricing and other irregularities when purchasing Litro Gas cylinders.
