SATHOSA drops rice price by Rs. 02

Date:

The Trade Ministry has taken measures to reduce the price of imported Samba rice sold at SATHOSA outlets by Rs. 02 per kilogram.

Accordingly, a kilogram of imported Samba sold at Rs. 130 by SATHOSA will be sold at Rs. 128 from today (29).

This has been disclosed by Subject Minister Bandula Gunawardena, during his visit to rice wholesale outlets in Pettah today to inquire into the wholesale price of rice.

Nadu rice will also be sold at Rs. 105 per kilogram through SATHOSA and 10 kilogram of Samba will be issued to the customer from today, Gunawardena said.

The Trade Minister also stated that as a large quantity of imported rice belonging to the Pettah Rice Business Community is stalled in the Port, it will be possible to further slash the price, if those stocks are released to the market.
