This decision was made during a recent SLPP politburo meeting, where the party agreed to field its own candidate and suspend any member acting contrary to the party’s decisions, regardless of their position.
The SLPP politburo has faced mounting pressure over the past few weeks to take swift action against members opposing the party’s stance. Many SLPP activists have called for the immediate cancellation of these MPs’ party memberships.
