Former Colombo Councillor Kithsiri Rajapaksa released on bail

March 29, Colombo (LNW): Kithsiri Rajapaksa, the United National Party’s Central Colombo Organiser and former Municipal Councillor, has been granted bail following his arrest in connection with a land dispute in Dematagoda.

Rajapaksa was taken into custody by the Dematagoda Police last (28) night after allegedly threatening and insulting an individual during a confrontation over a contested property.

The incident reportedly escalated into verbal abuse and intimidation, prompting legal action.

He was presented before the Hulftsdorp Magistrate’s Court this afternoon (29), where the court ordered his release on bail.

Further legal proceedings regarding the case are expected in due course.
